TA 2000 Instructions.....(size: 2 printed pages) |
|||||||
The TA 2000 is used with a single line telephone system and a tape recorder. The recorder does NOT need to have a VOX unit on it.
1. |
Plug one end of the modular telephone cord (supplied) into the modular jack on the rear panel of the TA 2000. |
2. |
Plug the other end of this modular telephone cord into your telephone wall jack |
3. |
Plug the AC Adapter (supplied) into an AC wall outlet. (12VDC, 200mw, negative pin, positive barrel) |
4. |
Plug the
DC plug from the AC adapter into the DC jack on the rear
panel of the TA 2000. |
At this point, look at the front panel of the
TA 2000. GREEN LED should be ON
& RED
LED should be OFF.
If GREEN LED is OFF, the AC wall outlet the AC adapter is plugged into is
not "live".
If BOTH GREEN LED & RED LED are ON/ON, this
means there is a bad connection in your phone jack, OR there is a
phone off-hook on that line, OR your phone jack is not live.
Assuming only the GREEN LED is ON:
If you now take your phone off-hook, the RED LED goes ON.
The GREEN LED stays ON.
Hang up and the RED LED goes OFF.
This confirms that the TA 2000 is operating properly.
The TA 2000 is supplied with 2 cables to connect it to your tape recorder.
One of these cables has 3.5mm jacks on each end.
5. |
Plug one end of this cable into the jack that is closest to the right side of the TA 2000's front panel. (see figure below) |
6. |
Plug the other end of this cable into the "aux" jack of your long play recorder. (see figure below) |
The other cable has a 3.5mm plug on one end and a smaller 2.5mm plug on the other end.
7. |
Plug the larger 3.5mm plug into the remaining jack on the TA 2000 which is the one farthest away from the right side of the front panel. |
8. |
Plug the smaller 2.5mm plug into the "remote" jack of your long play recorder. |
9. |
Put your recorder into the "RECORD" mode. The ALC (Automatic Level Control) must be ON and the VOX (if there is one) must be OFF. |

GREEN LED is ON (as long as there is electricity at that outlet) & RED LED is OFF
Whenever a telephone is picked up on the line on which the TA 2000 is installed, the RED LED goes ON and the recorder will start recording. GREEN LED stays ON.
When the phone is hung up, the RED LED goes OFF and the recorder will stop after about 5 seconds of silence. GREEN LED stays ON.
For playback, you first need to unplug the cable from the 2.5mm "remote" jack.
