TA 100 Instructions.......(size: 1 printed page)

The TA 100 is used with a single line telephone system and a tape recorder with VOX.

The TA 100 has 2 cables coming out of it:

1.

Plug one end of the modular telephone cord (supplied) into a telephone wall jack.

2.

Plug the other cord with the 3.5 mm audio plug into the "AUX" jack of your long play recorder.

3.

Turn the ALC switch to "ON".

4.

Put the recorder into the "RECORD" mode.

5.

Turn the VOX knob on the tape recorder ON by turning it clockwise, just past the click.

With the telephone ON-hook, the recorder should not run since there should be nothing for the VOX to "hear" yet.

6.

Take the telephone OFF-hook. The recorder should start since it "hears" dial tone on the line.

7.

Hang up the telephone. After about 5 seconds the recorder will stop.

The VOX can be made less sensitive by turning it clockwise. If you turn it as far as it can go (1 turn), the VOX should not activate the recorder at all even when you pick up the telephone and hear dial tone. Then, as you turn it back counterclockwise about a quarter turn, the machine should "hear" the audio on the telephone line and activate the recorder. That confirms that the VOX unit is working normally.
Normally, turning the VOX knob just past the click is the correct position for the VOX knob. However, in rare cases where there are humms, etc. on a long distance extension using untwisted pairs, it may be necessary to make the VOX less sensitive.

Please be sure to turn the VOX OFF for playback. The machine will not play back unless the VOX is OFF.
