VOX Instructions.....(size: 1 printed page)

Operation of built-in voice activation (VOX)

It is IMPORTANT you understand that the voice activation is OFF when its knob has been turned fully COUNTERCLOCKWISE, past the click. When the VOX is OFF, the recorder will run continuously in both the "record" and "playback" modes.

When you put the recorder in the "record" mode and you turn the VOX on (by turning the knob CLOCKWISE past the click) the recorder will START and record when a voice or other sound is present. The recorder will STOP approximately 5 seconds after the voice or sound stops.

The VOX is most sensitive when it is turned on, just past the "click". At you turn it clockwise it becomes less and less sensitive. When the knob is turned clockwise as far as it will go, the VOX is insensitive to ALL sounds and the tape recorder will switch itself off. Now if you turn the knob counterclockwise, the VOX will become more sensitive and will turn on again (if there is sound present). This is a good way to test the VOX to make sure that it is working.

Normally, turning the VOX on just past the "click" is the best setting for recording your telephone conversations.

In rare cases, it may be necessary to set the VOX to a more insensitive setting.
