Vox Control03is a circuit board that is added to the recorder. It is necessary to use a VOX (Voice Operated System) when you use the TC-10 or the TA-100 telephone interfaces. It isn't needed if the telephone interface is the TA-2000 since that unit activates the "remote" switch on the recorder eliminating the need for a VOX. The unit has a control knob to turn it ON & OFF and to set the sensitivity of the recorder to the audio signal coming in. The unit will run for 5 or 6 seconds after hearing no signal in at which point it shuts off. $30
Variable
Speed Control.04This
is a knob on the side of the
recorder that speeds up the recorder's speed. That way the tape
can be played back at a faster than normal speed. If the speed is
up to 50% faster than normal, speech can still be understood. We
normally set the maximum speed at about 75-100% above normal. You
must remember to shut the variable speed OFF before recording so
you can tape at normal speed. $35
Unmuted
Cue/Review.05This allows you
to hear the tape as it Fast Forwards
or Rewinds. This is handy when
reviewing phone messages since the 6 second quiet spots between
messages allows you to keep track of where you are in the tape. $10
Monitor Audio In06with Headphone.eThis option takes one of the 1/4 " headphone jacks and modifies it so you can hear the actual signal you are recording. This is also very useful when you play a cassette to record to a second machine (which could be regular speed). If you use this jack as your audio out, you will still hear the tape's sound through the recorder's speaker. The jack used is the one nearest the front of the machine. $15
Direct Input Jack for M-1 Microphone.01 This is a 3.5 mm jack that allows you to use a condenser microphone such as our M-1 microphone without first running its audio signal through a preamp such as our Amp-1 or 12BE compression amplifier. $15
12VDC Operation.02 The machine has a circuit board added so it can step down the 12 VDC from a car lighter to the 9 Volt DC used by the recorder. Comes complete with a Card Cord to plug into the car's cigarette lighter. Doesn't affect the operation of batteries in the machine itself or use of the 120 Volt AC Power cord. $25
220-240 VAC 50 Hz Operation.07This is our export model. It can have all the other options on it too. This is 220-240 VAC only. It is NOT a dual-purpose machine. However, you can use any of the commonly sold voltage converters to run an American style 120 VAC model in a country that uses 220-240 VAC electricity. $30

| ..Viking Playback Only Machines | |||||||||

Professional Electronic Equipment------ |

We also offer Playback Only Machines. These have no RECORD button, so it is impossible to erase a tape by mistake. Since the machines sell for only $20 less than a recorder, we recommend buying a second recorder if you need to listen to tapes at several locations. That way you have a back-up machine in case something happens to the first one. However, in those cases where you want to ensure that no one can erase 18 minutes or so by mistake, these machines are useful.
All Options are the same except that the VOX isn't applicable.
